Sink or Float?

As part of our creative home learning (can you make a 3Dmodel of a ship. Can you make it float?), some children chose to create their model and bring them in to test them. The children had to think recap back to our ‘materials’ topic and decided which properties of materials are suitable to ensure their boat would float. Today, the children got to test their ships in class and the rest of the children voted red for sink and blue for float. Great effort everybody! Some super designs and materials used!

Mental Health Week in Year 4

This week has been mental health awareness week. We have worked hard at making life better for us. The children have been given a positive attitude wheel to help improve their mental health and a daily challenge. This has really helped integrate our positive messages and well-being book into everyday tasks. Our worry wizard has been very busy championing well-being this week. We even had a lesson about friends and good friendships with Netchen.  Great resilience and thoughtfulness this week Year 4.

Ready, Steady, Read Festival Workshop in Year 4

Today, Year 4 had the fantastic opportunity to virtually meet John Dougherty. He started off his festival with a song about Stink Bomb and Ketchup. He got us all up dancing and went on to explain his stories. It was fabulous to be online with other schools in Tameside. John told us some ideas about how and why he wrote his stories and where he got his inspiration from. It was truly brilliant.

Pirate Day!

TThis morning the Pirates in Year 2 have been using their mathematical / geographical co-ordinate skills to play battle ships, they have been making treasure chests out of nets to create 3D shapes, talking like a pirate (Avest ye, All hands hoy, Yo ho ho, Shiver me timbers, Ahoy matey, Booty and Battern down the hatches) and creating WANTED posters of themselves. Stay tuned to see what we get up too this afternoon!
