This year Broadbent Fold are taking part in the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM)
We are committed to making sure that we develop a clear aspirational vision for science for all pupils.
We have set out some basic principles for the teaching and learning of science in our school- these are attached- these will be evident in how science looks in our school. Science in Early Years is covered in the 'Understanding the World' area of the EYFS curriculum. It is introduced indirectly through activities that will encourage your child to explore, problem solve, observe, predict, think, make decisions, and talk about the world around them. Please see the Primary Science Overview for details of the units of work that will be taught across KS1 and KS2 in science.
We have already had lots of staff training to develop our teaching and planning of science throughout the school. We have also planned a variety of enrichment activities that will take place throughout the year including visitors, workshops, themed days/weeks, the science fair and a range of competitions.
As part of our science learning there will be a large emphasis on 'working scientifically' where the children will have the opportunity to take part in investigations looking at the plan- do- review cycle- see attached.
