Year 4 Spring Term

Dear Parents, Carers, I do hope you had a fabulous Christmas holiday, and the children are looking forward to our new term at school which starts tomorrow. Please find attached out Medium Term Plan and Home Learning Grid. This half term we are trying to Explain the Unexplained! This topic enables the children to really delve into several mysteries from the Loch Ness Monster, sightings of Yeti, Bermuda Triangle disappearances and Scottish legends. It is followed closely by our science topic on Electricity, where an electrical coding workshop has been organised.

Year 3 Spring 1 -2023

Our creative topic this term is What makes the Earth angry?

All our learning will be based on this theme, it is a exciting theme one which we know children will enjoy. Attached is the information -MTP, Home Learning Grid and a Challenge!

Keep an eye on the news so that children can come into school able to discuss any recent disasters.

Pledge 100 exercises for Sir Captain Tom Moore

Today Captain Sir Tom Moore sadly died at the age of 100 years old. He was a true inspiration to many people, raising money for the NHS and lifting people's spirits during lockdown.

To remember this legendary man, can you do 100 exercises of your choice. Send photographs of your physical activities to your class teacher.

RIP Captain Sir Tom.

up, UP and away!

Welcome to Year 3's class blog. We have lifted off to a flying start after receiving a letter from a pen pal Iza Jayer who lives in the Arctic Circle and needs our help to win a hot air balloon competition to England. We have begun our year 3 journey by getting very messy, designing and creating our own hot air balloons and the children have suggested that we learn to write back to Iza Jayer. In Science we have started our first topic 'Magnets and springs' and this week will be exploring bar magnets.

Year 5 go back to Victorian times!

Year 5 travelled back in time to the Victorian age when they visited Quarry Bank Mill in Styal on 7th October.  Dressed in clothes of the Victorian period, the children arrived at Apprentice House and stepped right into a school lesson!   Handwriting on chalkboards, calling the very strict Mistress "Maam" and learning about some scary medical procedures of the time (such as bloodsucking leeches) made Year 5 realise just how lucky they are to live in 2016!

Victorian Visit !

Year 5 travelled back in time to the Victorian age when they visited Quarry Bank Mill in Styal on 7th October.  Dressed in clothes of the Victorian period, the children arrived as apprentices and stepped right into a school lesson! Apart from writing and maths they were taught about some of the medical procedures of the time, such as bloodsucking leeches!  A visit to the mill, where they experienced the noisy machinery,  helped them to empathise with the poor children who worked there two hundred years ago.  We all enjoyed the day as you can see from this selection of photographs.
