Living and non-living?

In Science today, we got into small groups and we used a Venn diagram to discuss and sort some living and non-living things. The children discussed each of the pictures / things and put them where they thought they belonged. We then discussed as a class some items that the children place in the middle and gave explanations as to why it was living or not living and came to final conclusion. The children decided that a living thing eats, drinks, moves and reproduces. We then discussed how we know humans are alive and I introduced the children to MRSGREN and what this acronym stands for. Ask your child to see if they can remember. We then chose one of the living things each and completed an activity about how we know our living thing is alive
