Year 6 Blog

Just So!

Rudyard Kipling wrote lots of "Just So" stories for his children.

In Year 6, we have been reading the stories, finding the characteristics of them and using these to write our own,

We have made a book of our "Just So" stories.

Year 6 go to Rio!

We have continued on our Olympic journey to Brazil and have been looking at similarities and differences between Rio and Manaus.

Rio is a busy, popular tourist destination and Manaus is a remote village in the centre of the Amazon Rainforest.

Scurvy Science

We have been continuing to learn about "Healthy Bodies"

This week we learned all about Scurvy and the doctor James Lind who noticed that sailors who had been out a sea for a long time, suffered from the disease.

Good Luck Year 6

Good luck Year 6 with your Key Stage 2 tests next week. We know how brilliant you all are, just go out there and show everyone else how  fabulous you are! We are very proud of all your achievement. Believe in yourselves, we know you can do it! All the best from everyone at Broadbent Fold.

Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth

On Thursday 21st April, it was Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday.

At Broadbent Fold, we celebrated in style wearing red, white and blue clothes.

Every child made and flew a union flag kite.

Luckily, the weather was perfect for kite flying and we had a great day!

Happy Birthday Ma'am!

Science Week - Sharing Open Spaces!

On the final day of Science Week, Year 5 and Year 6 chose to work together on "Open Spaces".  We made the short walk to Gorse Hall armed with black bags, string and cardboard to create their dens. Accompanied by myself, Mrs Austin, Mrs Gething and Mrs Brereton, the children thoroughly enjoyed the activity and the end results were fabulous!   More importantly we were all extremely impressed by their team spirit and hard work.  Well done to you all!  Mrs Blomeley

Easter Creations!

Year 6 created some 'eggcellent' creations for the Easter competition.

All of the entries were 'eggstraordinary' and the children certainly 'eggceeded' all 'eggspectations'.

Well done!

We are 'eggstremely' proud of you all!

Happy Easter!!!

World Book Day

Broadbent Fold have celebrated World Book Day at last.

(A week late because of a very snowy day last Friday!)

Year 6 have all enjoyed dressing up and so have Mrs Austin and Mrs Gething!

All the children and grown-ups met in their family groups to read a book together.

Bon Voyage!

My Amazing Eight Years At Broadbent Fold!

I’ve been at Broadbent Fold for eight years and I must say it was probably the most exciting  experience walking into this school when I was four. I remember a nice heart warming welcome from all the teachers! It was definitely worth getting out of bed at seven o’clock every single day! I used to think school was boring well this school proved me so wrong.
