Front Row Music came into assembly today to explain their music facilities. They got some children to demonstrate how easy it was to play the guitar and ukulele, play some games and they really enthused the children. If you wish for your child to have lessons, please ask for a sign up sheet.
Welcome to Year 5! Our first half term's topic is "What was life like for Victorian children?" and we have some exciting and inspiring activities to help us delve into this important period in history. Our visit to George Street Chapel will enhance their learning and help the class to empathise with children from the past. All of Year 5 have got off to a fantastic start! Thank you to all the children who have taken the new classroom and routines in their stride, without any fuss! This has been even more difficult in the extreme weather we have had this week! Headteachers certificates were awarded for fantastic enthusiasm and amazing subject knowledge together with beautiful manners and a great attitude to learning! Well done to all our Award winners in our final week of Year 5! Amazing skills in Design & Technology and Food Technology, Good to Green awards for being Ready, Respectful and Safe all week. Silver, Gold and Headteacher's certificates and badges were also presented for achieving 100, 170 and a massive 250 star points throughout the year! You are all amazing Year 5! Mrs Blomeley

As part of their South American topic, Mrs Hallam helped Year 5 to make Guacamole this week! Using Avocados, red onions, lime juice, red chilli peppers and a hint of garlic, the children demonstrated their culinary skills of cutting, mashing and mixing to make this South American based dipl They really enjoyed making it bloved eating it afterwards with Doritos! Some of the children enjoyed it so much that they are planning to make more at home! Well done everyone and a massive thank you to Mrs Hallam for helping them!Mrs Blomeley

Awards this week went to the whole class for their brilliant work and amazing behaviour during our "Taster day" at Rayner Stephens this week! Other reasons for receiving awards were for amazing writing and beautiful presentation, as well as being Ready, Respectful and Safe! A Gold Award for achieving 170 Star Points and this half term's much sought after Handwriting Award were also presented! Well done everyone! Mrs Blomeley

Today our KS2 Reading Ambassadors went to Dukinfield Town Hall to take part in a celebration event with lots of other Tameside schools. It was lovely to see them up on the stage to receive their certificate to thank them for their hard work this year. I am super proud of them all.

Today we had a visitor from Tameside Libraries who introduced the new Summer Reading Challenge which is now open to enter. This summer, join the Ready, Set, Read! team and their animal mascots for the Reading Challenge as they use their skills to weave their way through a summer obstacle course. The Challenge will celebrate play and participation, encouraging you to engage in games and sports in any way that best suits you!
