Stone Age Outdoor Activities

Year 3 became hunter gathers, learning to throw bow and arrows (javelins) to kill the woolly mammoths, and aiming to collect berries. Mrs Anson kindly lit a fire so children could cook just like the Stone Age people would have done.

Art - Stone Age Cave Paintings

Year 3 have created their own cave painting using oil pastels and really enjoyed using their hands and fingers to blend in the colours, just like how a Stone Age artist would!

Autumn 2 Year 3 information

Year 3 Autumn 2

Year 3 are heading back in time to learn about The Stone age.

We have some wonderful learning experiences planned including being hunter gathers like Stone age people, making stone age necklaces.

Our class text is The Stone Age Boy.

Attached is our Medium Term Plan and Year 3's Autumn 2 Home Learning Grid.

We look forward to work being shared on Seesaw.

Tameside Libraries half term events

During October half term there are many free activities on at Tameside Libraries- please see the images attached for more information.

Half term activities

We have lots going on for children and families during the upcoming half term.

The Lost Sheep

We enjoyed listening to a story called The Lost Sheep. Our visitor from Holy Trinity taught us to appreciate each other.

Festivals of light

Year 3 compared the religious festivals that are celebrated during Autumn, they noticed the festivals all involved light.

Diwali the festival of light, Hanakkah and advent.

Which festivals do you celebrate?

Reading Ambassadors training

Today the KS2 Reading Ambassadors met together for their training with Cassie from and Joy from Tameside Libraries. They have ideas ready to set a whole school reading challenge.

Thank you for your ideas- what a great team!

Super Space Week

Week beginning the 4th October is national space week. The school immersed themselves in learning about space. They have been fascinated about our solar system, the planets, the moons, space travel, astronauts and other galaxies. Year 2 even went to Jodrell Bank as a trip. Look at how fantastic the schools' display looks.

Black History Month

The whole school have been studying important black historical figures. The children have worked hard to learn and perform poems, find out about segregation and the American civil rights movement, to learn about inspirational figures and their fight for equality, freedom and reduce racism. We all hope in the future for an equal society, where regardless of the colour of our skin, we are treated fairly and with respect.
