Year 3 Autumn 2

Welcome back Year 3! We hope you are well rested and ready for our fun packed topic this half term.  We will be travelling back in time to the prehistoric era to find out what life was like in the Stone Age. We will be exploring Stone Age art, creating cave paintings and Stone Age jewellery, as well as taking part in hunter gatherer outdoor activities with Mrs Anson making campfires and practising our aiming and throwing skills.


Happy Diwali

Year 3 enjoyed watching videos about DiwalI the Hindu festival of light. We compared this festival to the Christian festival Christmas and Hannukah that Jews celebrate. Children shared their ideas on how DiwalI is celebrated and then together wrote acrostic poems.

Art in Year 3

Year 3 have experimented with watercolours and created the background for a Stonehenge picture using sketching pencils on top of their watercolour background. This links to their Stone Age themed topic this year.


Numbers in Real Life! Thank You!

A HUGE THANK YOU to those people who sent in photographs for our "Numbers in Real Life" display!  We received some amazing photographs from all around the country, proving that numbers are absolutely everywhere around us!  Here are just a few of the photographs we received.  Thank you again.  Mrs Blomeley


Halloween Fun

We started our Halloween preparation a bit earlier this year! We made delicious chocolate apples and decorated masks ready for trick or treating next week! 


Year 3 super stars

This week it was extremely hard to choose our good to be green winners, we are very proud of the behaviour and hard work attitude. We also have our head teacher award winners.

A new award this week was to our two vocab ninjas - well done everyone.


Banish Boring Sentences

Today we banished boring sentences! We pretented to be teachers and corrected and improved boring sentences by adding exciting adjective and fronted adverbials. 


Making shadows

We had lots of fun today making and investigating shadows. We learnt that a shadow is formed when an opaque object blocks the light falling on it. We also noticed that the size of the shadow changed depending how close the object was to the light source. 


Fronted Adverbials Hunt

Today, we have been learning about fronted adverbials. We read sentences and had to decide if they had fronted adverbials or not. We also sorted fronted adverbials into three groups; manner, place and time. Then we used fronted adverbials in our own sentences.
