Bug Hotels

Year 1 made their bug hotels at home and some children decided to put them into the Forest School area. Great job everyone!

Easter bonnet and egg competition

Year 1 had so many entries to the Easter bonnet and egg competition, it was so hard to pick some winners. A big well done to Mason and Norah who were the winners for Year 1 with their amazing home made designs. Well done to everyone that took part.

Tameside Libraries half term events

There are free, family activities at Tameside Libraries during the upcoming Easter holiday, all with the theme of In the Garden. These are open to all, although aimed at children aged 4-11, and are drop in. There are also workshops available run by Explore Learning for 7-9 year olds at Ashton and Droylsden libraries which need to be booked in advance.

Please see the attached posters for more details.

Trip to Gorse Hall

Year 1 went on a trip to Gorse Hall to see where Beatrix Potter's grandparents, John and Jane Leech, built the Gorse Hall mansion in 1836 of which the ruins can still be seen today. We were amazed to see photos of what the mansion used to look like and how they used to travel by horse and carriage.

Science Fair

Year 1 loved taking part in the Science Fair today. A big thank you to Year 6 for running it. They were brilliant at getting the pupils to make predictions and perform the tests to see if they were right.

Fruit Kebabs

This half term Year 1 have researched different types of fruit and designed their own fruit kebab using a repeated pattern. They then used their cutting skills to create their own fruit kebabs. Which one do you think looks the tastiest?

Team Amber - Winners!

Amber have won the House Team Points for spring term. Well done Amber - you have been so impressive all term and have worked incredibly hard to achieve your rewards. On Friday 31st March, you will receive a special non-uniform day for your efforts. Good luck to the other teams next term - you can do it!

Science Fair 2023

Year 6 have had a fabulous day hosting the Science Fair this year. We have worked with KS1 and KS2 to investigate, research and consolidate our scientific learning across the school. We have explored magnets, electricity, scents, fingerprints, chemical reactions, famous inventors, space and beyond, rocks and fossils, light and shadow and human organs.

Thank you Year 6 you were fantastic leaders today and I am very proud of you all.

Moving the wood chip

Year 1 had a fabulous time in Forest School moving the wood chip around the young trees. This helps to keep the roots warm which makes the trees grow more easily. It also stops the grass from growing around the trees.

Science Poster winners 2023

Well done to everyone who entered the British Science Week poster competition about connections.

I met with Mrs Blomeley and the Pupil Leaders this week to choose our school winners which was a very difficult decision.

Our KS1 winner is Nora!

Our KS2 winners are Matilda in Y5 and Sam G, Harriet, Thomas O and Boyd in Y6.

Well done to you all :)
