50th Celebration picnic
We loved the picnic on our school field today to celebrate out schop turning 50! Our favourite part of the day was taking part in the tug of war but we also liked the sack race and penalty shoot out.

Year 6 performed a poem by Bill Bilston in assembly today. We first looked at this poem when we did our Windrush topic and it explores refugees. The poem can be read in two directions and at first year 6 were shocked at how racist the poem seemed to be!
Please watch our poem on this link: Year 6 Performance Poetry - YouTube
They performed it fantastically today :)
Gardening club worked doing weeding and pruning to make the school planters look amaxing.
Well done to winners of the Historical Timeline Competition who planted the time capsule and the Cherry Tree as part of Broadbent Fold's 50th birthday celebrations.
Look at our 50 years drone shots!
What a wonderful momentous occasion as Broadbent Fold celebrated turning 50. So many past teachers and pupils turned up to celebrate. We shared an assembly, planted a tree and a time capsule and enjoyed a slice of cake and a cup of tea reminiscing. What a fantastic morning we all had.
What a way to end sports week with a visit from GB sprinter Andy Robertson to give out our sporting awards! There was lots of excellent sportsmanship shown over the course of this week with lots of children learning new skills. Thank you Andy for coming in to give out the awards and answer all our questions about what it is like to be an elite athlete.
The final scores for Sports Week are in....
1st place = Ruby with 560 points
2nd place = Amber with 550 points
3rd place = Sapphire with 547 points
4th place = Emerald with 531 points
Year 1 and 2 loved using all the Freddy Fit resources to do their exercises in the sunshine. We might have had a but of a sing-a-long at the same time. Great work everybody!
Year 1 loved playing with all the old toys as part of our history topic and could see that some of them were similar to ones we played with today. We spotted that the old toys were made of wood whereas our toys are usually made of plastic and metal now.
Year 1 loved taking part in a football tournament linked to the Women's World Cup as part of National Sports Week. There was some fantastic teamwork on display with great passing, shooting, defending and goal keeping skills. A big well done to Ruby house who won the tournament.
