Year 5 go to University!

On Thursday 20th November five children from Year 5 were invited to Manchester University as part of a Primary Awareness procect.  Along with children from five other Dukinfield schools they met Student Ambassadors who gave the children a tour of the campus and spoke about some of the courses available.  In the afternoon the children visited the Pharmacy department and used pestle and mortars to make tablets!  It was a fantastic day and all of the children thoroughly enjoyed it.

R.E. Week

As part of R.E. week we have been learning about the story of Jonah and the Whale.  We had a visit from Reverend Julie today who shared lots of stories with us.

Homework

We have successfully been using mymaths and bug club online homework. Well done Year 4.

Our Cooking Club

Mrs Lowe and Miss Moon run The Cooking Club every Wednesday for children from Year 1 through to Year 6.
The children enjoy trying out new recipes whilst learning some new skils within the kitchen. This year we have made pizza, spaghetti bolognese, potato skins, and fajitas. These dishes don't always make it home and are enjoyed at the club mmmmmm. :)

Religious Education Creative Week

This week we have been learning about different religions including Buddhism. We have made an origami lotus!

To improve our Christianity knowledge Reverend Julie came into class and told stories from The Bible.

RE and Water Creative Week

We have had an amazing time so far this week!  We have been learning all about the relevance of water within Religion.  We have discussed the stories in the Old Testament of Noah's Ark, Jonah and the Whale and Moses as a baby in a basket! We have also enjoyed comparing what we know about  Christianity to other religions such as Islam and Hinduism.  Reverend Julie from Mossley Methodist Circuit came and shared some Bible stories in class and we were able to ask her lots of questions.
