Vincent Van Gogh

Vincent Van Gogh

To start off our new topic, 'How does your garden grow?', we read a story called Camille and the Sunflowers. The story was all about a little boy who had the most wonderful time watching and admiring an artist named Vincent. Together, we did a little research about Vincent and found out that he is a very famous artist!

The children then had the opportunity to explore some of Van Gogh's most famous paintings. We walked around to look at each one and discussed what we liked or didnt like about the painting before finding our favourite and sharing with the class our reasons why. We had some fantastic ideas! Ethan loved the bright colours in the painting of 'Cafe Terrace at Night' and Theo was attracted to 'The Starry Night' because blue is his favourite colour. To finish off the lesson, we wrote super sentences explaining our opinions of the fantastic artwork using the conjunction 'because'.
