Gliding into Autumn Term 2

Gliding into Autumn Term 2

What an exciting start to Year 3 we have had! In Maths, we have been learning about place value, addition and subtraction of 2 and 3 digit numbers. The children have learnt a variety of methods to use and tackle reasoning and problem solving questions. In Science, our favourite experiment has been trailing different materials that would be appropriate for a run way. In English, we have wrote letters to our pen pal Iza Jayer in the Arctic Circle, who needed help to win a hot air balloon competition to England. In D&T, we have got very messy and made our own hot air balloons out of paper mache. We then wrote instructions for Iza Jayer to make his own hot air balloon because he’s not very good at writing and doesn’t have the internet or many books where he lives. In dance, we have been learning how to Samba! We have learnt how to find and count to slow, regular and fast beats in different songs, learnt of a variety of different movements, created our own movements in small groups and learnt how to apply cannon and unison into our routines. We have put all this together to create a class samba dance to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy6y9lCYxvo.
