FIFA World Cup Week

FIFA World Cup Week

Wow, what a fantastic week Year One have had! We have really enjoyed being active and learning all about our country for the FIFA World Cup; Nigeria! All week we participated in a range of sports such as orienteering, cross country, Zumba and of course, our playground challenge for Soccer Aid. But not only have our bodies been busy this week, our brains have also been working hard as we spent the week learning all about Nigeria. We learnt all about the country and where it is in the world, we discussed the weather and appropriate clothing, we were introduced to Water Aid and learnt about the difficulties of finding clean water in Nigeria and during the week, we also recieved a postcard from Grace; a child living in Nigeria. We made lots of links to RRSA by discussing our rights to clean water, food and our right to play and how some children in Nigeria do not have those things. We wanted to help so we created some Water Aid posters to raise awareness and we wrote special wishes for the children in Africa. We even got super creative by designing and making African jewellery and we used 2D shapes to create some African artwork.
