Year 5's new topic Exploring Europe has got off to a great start! Yesterday Miss Laitl from Key Stage 1 gave a presentation on her homeland, Poland. We found out about the population, the different districts within the country and that the diverse landscapes in Poland include mountains, beaches and even a desert! We discovered that Polish buildings are colourful and there are lots of beautiful churches there. We had a go at speaking in Polish and learnt about Polish currency which is called Zloty; Miss Leitl brought some in for us to look at. Finally we sampled a variety of traditional Polish food such as pickled herrings, pickled cucumbers, smoked cheese and "Grandma's" bread! Delicious! Our next step is to produce some persuasive posters to show how wonderful Poland is! Thank you Miss Leitl! Year 5.
